Offstage

Since 2017, ongoing project

All pictures were taken in public spaces of cities in various countries. An empty stage always poses the question of a storyline. The public spaces surrounding us are subject to storylines and dynamic processes, characterised by those who populate it.
In these images, functional elements, moments of disorder and playful details are recurring themes. These point to a storyline which is, however, not spelled out in detail. Nothing moves. The stage is empty. The images show a moment of calmness in a city which is permanently on the move. They pose questions as to one’s own role in the urban space and offer the opportunity to view a familiar urban habitat through a new lens.
